Pop Judaica Boutique on ModernTribe.com

Dear Cusotmer,

Last November Pop Judaica became part of the ModernTribe family and sister site to ModernTribe.com. We’ve been working hard to build a new, integrated website for both ModernTribe and Pop Judaica so that you can shop both stores and check out once.

Along the way to achieving an integrated shopping experience, we need to take a sideways step and temporarily move Pop Judaica onto ModernTribe’s website. The current plan is that Pop Judaica will temporarily be a boutique on ModernTribe.com, through the end of 2010, and then move to its own new and improved website mid 2011.

Starting in September, when you go to PopJudaica.com, you will be automatically re-directed to the Pop Judaica boutique on ModernTribe, where you’ll find funny Jewish gifts and kitschy tchotchkes along with the advanced shopping features of ModernTribe including:

Choose gift wrapping & create free gift notes

Create customer accounts allowing you to:

Save addresses of your favorite gift recipients in your address book

Ship to multiple addresses during the same order!

Access your order status and order history online

See if your package has shipped and track your shipments

Re-order past orders

Create a Wishlist

Save items to purchase later in “Save For Later”

Create multiple gift registries for any occasion

Share your wishlist and gift registry via email or be found through gift registry search (or make your lists private)

Manage your account information and newsletter subscription

Pay with PayPal or Google Checkout or by credit card

Ship international!

Choose express shipping options

We are so glad you are our customer and wish to serve you in the best way possible for years to come! Please don’t hesitate to call or email us with comments or questions. 877-324-1818

Here are some of our favorite Jewish doppelgangers:

“The prophet Amos – came down from the mountains, raised hell and then left town.” — Jay

“I am most like Devorah, the judge. I am all about justice. I get truly indignant when I hear about evil getting away without punishment.” — Lara

“I love Momma Sarah. I know she was a woman of great faith, but she was also a woman of great doubts. Remember it was her idea that Abraham lay with Haggar because she felt G-d wasn’t working fast enough. I often find myself asking G-d to work on my timetable instead of changing to His.” — Treena

“Definitely Vashti. She’s always given a bad rap in Hebrew School, but I think that refusing to dance naked for your husband and his drunken poker buddies, knowing full well that you will be kicked out on your ass, is pretty heroic.” – Beth

“It’s got to be Eddie Vedder – they say he’s Jewish, and I too cannot look anyone in the eye while singing or playing guitar.” — Eitan

“Biblically, my doppelganger has to be Chana…She was a prayer extraordinaire! And while I don’t claim to be on her level, not even close, I aspire to become more like her in my prayer life. Having her name has always motivated me to work on cultivating a stronger prayer life.” — Chana

“Jonah, the clowny ‘prophet’ running away from the task given by God, falling asleep when life is a mess and having a taste for melodrama, slightly aloof but with heaps of irony.” — Frances

“I’m going Moses. I live in Texas and Charlton Heston was Moses. Furthermore, when I get angry I like to break stuff cave man style. When I buy a case of beer I often drink it from the middle out, effectively “parting” the beer sea. Im not really a leader of men, but once or twice a vagrant has followed me about asking for cash. Also, I rock the fly beard which is pretty Moses, though I dont wear girl jeans which – lets face it – if Moses was around he’d probably rock. Fricken’ hipster.” — Adam

Thank you for playing!

Love,

The Mamalahs: Doni, Jennie, & Lisa

You can now buy $10 Insta-Jew Kits along with other funny Jewish gifts when shopping for Hanukkah gifts. Insta-Jew Kits are mystery bags containing at least three items whose value and quality are not guaranteed. One of the items will likely be a t-shirt and with it a chotsky, a CD, a book, or some underpants with Yiddish on the tuchus. Modeled after Woot.com’s Random Crap (affectionately called “Bag of Crap”) the Insta-Jew kits are a fun way to practically give away a bunch of quirky, weird Jewish stuff which has landed in our warehouse and raise money for non-profits that enrich the youthful Jewish American culture.

We are allowing no returns, exchanges, special requests or kvetching when it comes to the Insta-Jew Kits. This is just a fun surprise for 10 bucks, great for Hanukkah party gag-gifts, and a way to raise money for JDub and Jewcy.

To extend the fun further, we are also announcing our recent miraculous discovery: Moses Toast. Pop Judaica employee Patrick Aleph recounts, “we were making Insta-Jew Kits and took a toast break. When I took the toast out of the oven, it had the image of Moses on it. I’m a religious man — I knew it was a sign from G-d.” Rivlin Roberts explains the Moses Toast another way: “We remembered a news story about an Ebay listing for toast with an image of Jesus on it. We were laughing and saying how Jews would never see a deity in toast. Then we decided to have some fun with it.” A Jewish take on “Jesus Toast,” Moses Toast is a piece of toast with the image of Moses holding the Ten Commandments burned into it. The toast sells for $49.95 and 100% of the proceeds go to the non-profit Jewish music and media companies Jewcy.com and JDub Records.
